Rose stem was zip-tied to an 1/8” acrylic rod. The end of the stem was a small piece of floral wire. Glued to the back of the petal was a small coffee straw, which would slip over the floral wire (which could be bent back stage to help keep it from slipping too soon). The base held a small servo motor, a receiver and 9v battery. Thin fishing line ran from the servo motor to the stem. A remote control off-stage could slowly wind down the stem until the petal slid off the floral wire. The entire mechanism was self-contained to fit into the inset pedestal and around the light fixture inside said pedestal. This allowed us to use the same bell jar throughout the show and switch out roses instead of switching entire jars like the previous rental package.
